European Sign Expo 2026: a buyer's floor RFQ checklist
Official dates, Hall 2 focus, and the RFQ questions signage buyers should ask on channel letters, LED, and digital displays at Barcelona 19–22 May 2026.
European Sign Expo 2026 is the specialty-signage half of FESPA’s Barcelona week—not another print-calendar list. If you buy channel letters, illuminated displays, outdoor LED, or DOOH hardware for European sites, Hall 2 is where you turn booth conversations into written RFQs. This guide sticks to official FESPA and Fira de Barcelona facts, then gives you the questions that prevent “great demo, wrong voltage / IP / pitch” quotes after you fly home.

What European Sign Expo is (and is not) next to Global Print Expo
According to FESPA’s exhibitor line-up announcement, European Sign Expo (ESE) sits in Hall 2 alongside FESPA Global Print Expo, Personalisation Experience, WrapFest, Corrugated, and Textile. ESE’s stated focus is non-printed and specialty signage: channel lettering, dimensional signage, digital signage, display systems, engraving and etching, illuminated displays, LED, neon, and out-of-home media.
Global Print Expo remains the large-format print and finishing flagship. ESE is the hall for buyers who specify hardware that stays on buildings and roads for years—not only substrates that leave on a roll. A single ESE visitor ticket also grants access to the co-located events and conference programmes, per FESPA’s published visitor messaging. Use that access deliberately: print halls for graphics workflows; Hall 2 for letters, cabinets, modules, and controllers.
Fira de Barcelona’s press desk confirms the broader week returns to Gran Via with more than 500 exhibitors from 40 countries for the print and signage cluster. Treat that as venue-scale context, not a reason to skip a product-level RFQ.
Official facts: dates, Hall 2, hours, venue address
From FESPA’s European Sign Expo Show Information page:
- Dates: 19–22 May 2026
- Venue: Fira Barcelona Gran Via, Av. Joan Carles I, 64, 08908 L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona
- Hours: Tuesday–Thursday 10:00–18:00; Friday 10:00–15:00
- Visitor fees (as published): Early Bird €55 (24 Mar–20 Apr), Standard €85 (21 Apr–22 May), Onsite €90. A Super Early Bird band appears on the table; treat any January start date as subject to FESPA confirmation before you budget travel.
- Under-16s: not permitted (live machinery on the floor).
Register only through official FESPA paths such as the Visit European Sign Expo portal. Do not accept third-party “ticket packages” that invent discounts or booth promises.

Who should walk Hall 2 first
Prioritise ESE if your 2026–27 pipeline includes any of the following:
- Channel letter and dimensional programs for multi-site retail or hospitality brands that need consistent depth, face materials, and LED modules across EU/UK/AU 230 V sites.
- Illuminated cabinet and pylon faces where you must lock IP scope, service access, and listing language before paint samples.
- Outdoor LED / electronic message centers where pitch, brightness path, and ambient thermal limits decide total cost of ownership.
- DOOH / digital display buyers comparing sealed cabinets, CMS paths, and field-service models rather than show-floor brightness alone.
FESPA’s February 2026 line-up named exhibitors such as Bermaq, Domino Sign, Letra Corpórea, LT-Systems Europe, MW Displays, SignLED Imagen, and Very Displays as examples—not an exhaustive directory. Expect the list to grow; use names only as navigation aids, then demand written specs.
Floor-to-RFQ method: six questions before you accept a quote
Walk with a one-page template. Before you leave any serious booth, get answers in writing (email or stamped datasheet), not only in a demo video:
- Voltage region: Confirm drivers and PSU for EU/UK/AU 230 V (and US 120 V / 277 V if you also buy for North America). Do not let “universal input” replace a named range on the quote.
- IP / enclosure scope: Ask whether the stated IP code applies to the complete assembled cabinet (doors, glands, glass, connectors) or only to a module. Name IEC 60529 evidence for the quoted configuration.
- Pitch and viewing distance: For LED, lock mm pitch and minimum/maximum viewing distance for the actual content type (text-heavy EMC vs video).
- Service access: Front, rear, or module-pull? Tool requirements? Mean time to replace a failed module or power supply in a live site.
- Thermal and ambient: Rated ambient °C, cooling method (passive, fan/filter, exchanger, AC), and coastal or wash-down assumptions.
- Control and CMS: Native controller, third-party CMS, redundancy, and who owns software licences after handover.
If a seller cannot answer these six on the floor, they cannot answer them in a purchase order. Park the relationship until they can.
Co-located halls: when to leave ESE for print, wrap, corrugated, textile
Use co-location as a schedule tool, not a distraction:
- Stay in Hall 2 for letters, neon/LED illumination, digital cabinets, and DOOH hardware RFQs.
- Move to Global Print Expo when the bottleneck is substrate, ink, finishing, or large-format production capacity that feeds your sign shop—not the outdoor cabinet itself.
- WrapFest / Personalisation when vehicle or soft-signage workflows dominate the same brand program.
- Corrugated / Textile only if those materials are on the same campaign brief; do not dilute Hall 2 time for curiosity walks.
Block morning hours for primary RFQ targets; use afternoon cross-hall time for secondary suppliers. Friday closes at 15:00—front-load critical meetings Tuesday–Thursday.
After the show: what to put in writing
Within five working days of returning, convert booth notes into a single RFQ package sent to shortlisted vendors. Minimum fields:
- Site country and mains (230 V EU/UK/AU or 120/277 V US)
- Product type (channel letter set, cabinet, EMC, kiosk)
- IP code + complete-enclosure scope statement
- Pitch / face size / depth / weight limits
- Ambient, coastal yes/no, wash-down yes/no
- Service model and spare-parts lead time
- CMS / control path
- Required documents: datasheet, wiring diagram, IP test report identifier, packing list for section assemblies
Compare quotes only on those fields. Brochure slogans and show-floor nit numbers without ambient and duty cycle do not belong in the decision matrix.

Mid-October is planning season for a May Barcelona trip. Book meetings against Hall 2 categories first; treat co-located print halls as supporting capacity. The show is useful only if every serious conversation becomes a comparable RFQ—voltage, enclosure scope, pitch, service, and control written down before anyone paints a sample.
